Rivers Angels Football Club have won the 2025 President’s Federation Cup Women’s title after defeating Nasarawa Amazons 4-2 on penalties at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Lagos on Saturday.
The thrilling encounter ended in a stalemate after regulation time, with Rivers Angels eventually emerging victorious in the penalty shootout to retain the title and secure their 10th Federation Cup trophy.
In recognition of the team’s historic achievement, the Rivers State Administrator, Vice Admiral (Rtd.) Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas, announced a ₦50 million cash reward for the team. The announcement was made by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Ibibia Lucky Worika, who represented the Administrator at the final.
“This is absolutely unprecedented. There’s nothing like it,” Prof. Worika told journalists. “We are proud as Rivers men and women that our girls can put up such a feat. We are proud as a government.”
Worika said the Administrator had sent him to encourage the team, adding that the girls had made the state proud once again.
Rivers Angels’ previous Federation Cup victories came in 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2024.
