The Rivers State Chapter of the Association of Local Government of Nigeria, has issued a 7-day ultimatum to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), to provide sufficient machines to enable people participate in the ongoing Continuous Voters Registration.
Chairman of ALGON in the State, Allwell Ihundah in a statement during a protest to INEC office in Port Harcourt, said there is a deliberate attempt by the commission to disenfranchise Rivers people.
He said despite series of complaints about insufficient and malfunctioning machines, the commission has failed to address the issues.
Ihundah, explained that Algon would resist any attempt by INEC to depopulate the state, ahead of the 2023 general elections.
He furthermore, stated that the group is ready to assist INEC, to ensure a successful voters exercise.
