The Administrator of Rivers State, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas (Rtd), on Tuesday called on the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in the state to play a key role in promoting peace, reconciliation, and stability amid ongoing political and security tensions.
Speaking during a meeting with CAN leaders at the Government House in Port Harcourt, Ibas emphasized the church’s responsibility in providing moral guidance to help restore harmony across the state.
The administrator also extended Easter greetings, describing the season as a symbol of hope, sacrifice, and unity.
Ibas’s appeal comes in the wake of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s declaration of a State of Emergency in Rivers State, which led to his appointment as administrator. He reiterated his core mandate is to restore peace and stability in the troubled state.
