The Rivers State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has berated Governor Siminalayi Fubara for allegedly disappointing thousands of his supporters who gathered at the Government House on Thursday to celebrate his reinstatement.
The supporters, including immediate past local government chairmen, reportedly left in anger after waiting for hours without being attended to by the governor.
In a statement Rivers ADC Chairman, Chief Amb. Leader Sampson, described the incident as a sign of disrespect and disregard for the people.
“Indeed, Governor Fubara spat at your faces, revealing his disregard for your rights under the corrupt influence of the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike,” the statement read.
Sampson said the development paints a bleak picture for the state’s future, but urged the governor’s supporters, known as the “Simplified Family,” to shift allegiance to the ADC.
“At this point I advise all Simplified Family to channel your political focus and allegiance to the ADC, the party that will not use you as pawns and discard you,” he said.
He further urged them to “rise up against the forces that would silence your voices and trample on your rights,” assuring that the ADC remains “the only party that understands your needs and desires.”
