The Rivers State Civil Society Organizations, RIVCSO, has called on Bolt Ride-Hailing company, Uber and all other Ride-Hailing companies in Nigeria to implement a customer verification process to protect drivers, adding that safety of drivers is as important as the safety of users.
It said Customer verification could simple be a bank account number verification. Every Bolt account should have at least one bank account number linked to it.
Implementation of bank account number verification simply requires a very simple and single line of code and can be provided for free by Fintech companies like Paystack .
Bolt Ride-Hailing company shouldn’t hesitate to implement these recommendations. RIVCSO also calls on all road transport regulators to supervise the activities of Bolt, Uber and other Ride-Hailing companies in Nigeria to ensure that compliance to safety regulations are strictly adhered to.
This comes hours after auto thieves reportedly shot a Bolt driver to death at Rumuobiakani and fled with his car.
