Human rights lawyer and activist, Chetam Nwala who was arrested on Monday by officers of the Rivers State Police Command, has been granted bail.
Nwala was arrested at the UTC Junction in Port Harcourt while returning from court, where a matter involving him was heard earlier in the day.
A close friend of the activist, Alero Ruchi confirmed his release on bail in a post shared on Facebook.
Findings indicate that Nwala’s arrest is connected to earlier allegations of defamation of character and cyberbullying reportedly made against him.
As of the time of filing this report, the Rivers State Police Command has yet to issue an official statement on the arrest and subsequent grant of bail.
