Rhapsody of Realities 9 December 2023: Unrivalled Authority in His Name
SCRIPTURE: And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, Al power is given unto me in heaven and in earth (Matthew 28:18).
Some people brag about having authority in specific places, perhaps in a nation, city, street etc. For some, it’s even in classrooms, such that they become bullies and terrorize their classmates. But there’s one whose authority transcends the universe and extends to all of heaven, the earth, and under the earth. His Name is Jesus! Blessed be God!
The Bible says no one and nothing is exempted from His rule, His dominion and authority. Ephesians 1:20-22 MSG sheds more light on the unrivalled and unparalleled authority that He wields. It says, “.God raised him from death and set him on a throne in deep heaven, in charge of running the universe, everything from galaxies to governments, no name and no power exempt from his rule. And not just for the time being, but forever. He is in charge of it all, has the final word on everything…”
The most exhilarating part of this is the fact that His authority is given to us because we’re one with Him. We’re His seed and we prolong His days. He rules through us. Isaiah 9:6 says, “…and the government shall be upon his shoulder…” His shoulder refers to the Church- us; we’re His body in and through which He speaks and acts today.

This should help you understand why soon after He affirmed in Matthew 28:18 that all authority is His both in heaven and in earth, He immediately charged us in the ensuing verse 19 to go and teach all nations. That’s extraordinary, because it means we sit on His seat. We function by His authority.
It’s the reason we can do the same works that He did. He gave us power and authority over all devils, and to cure diseases (Luke 9:1). Read what the Bible says in Mark 16:17 NKJV: “And these signs wil follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons….
You have unrivalled authority in the Name of Jesus to cast out devils and tame circumstances. There’s nothing you
can’t do, and there’s no hopeless situation you can’t change. You can do all things in His Name. Hallelujah!
PRAYER:
Dear Father, I thank you for the unparalleled authority and power that the Lord Jesus has given to the Church, to exercise authority over devils, teach all nations and catapult many from the domains of darkness into the Kingdom of light. Thank you for the victory we have in Christ, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
FURTHER STUDY:
Ephesians 1:19-21 WNT
Paul, an Apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God: To God’s people who are in Ephesus–believers in Christ Jesus.
2 May grace and peace be granted to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has crowned us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms in Christ;
4 even as, in His love, He chose us as His own in Christ before the creation of the world, that we might be holy and without blemish in His presence.
5 For He pre-destined us to be adopted by Himself as sons through Jesus Christ–such being His gracious will and pleasure–
6 to the praise of the splendour of His grace with which He has enriched us in the beloved One.
7 It is in Him, and through the shedding of His blood, that we have our deliverance–the forgiveness of our offences–so abundant was God’s grace,
8 the grace which He, the possessor of all wisdom and understanding, lavished upon us,
9 when He made known to us the secret of His will. And this is in harmony with God’s merciful purpose
10 for the government of the world when the times are ripe for it–the purpose which He has cherished in His own mind of restoring the whole creation to find its one Head in Christ; yes, things in Heaven and things on earth, to find their one Head in Him.
11 In Him we Jews have been made heirs, having been chosen beforehand in accordance with the intention of Him whose might carries out in everything the design of His own will,
12 so that we should be devoted to the extolling of His glorious attributes–we who were the first to fix our hopes on Christ.
13 And in Him you Gentiles also, after listening to the Message of the truth, the Good News of your salvation–having believed in Him–were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit;
14 that Spirit being a pledge and foretaste of our inheritance, in anticipation of its full redemption–the inheritance which He has purchased to be specially His for the extolling of His glory.
15 For this reason I too, having heard of the faith in the Lord Jesus which prevails among you, and of your love for all God’s people,
16 offer never ceasing thanks on your behalf while I make mention of you in my prayers.
17 For I always beseech the God of our Lord Jesus Christ–the Father most glorious–to give you a spirit of wisdom and penetration through an intimate knowledge of Him,
18 the eyes of your understanding being enlightened so that you may know what is the hope which His call to you inspires, what the wealth of the glory of His inheritance in God’s people,
19 and what the transcendent greatness of His power in us believers as seen in the working of His infinite might
20 when He displayed it in Christ by raising Him from the dead and seating Him at His own right hand in the heavenly realms,
21 high above all other government and authority and power and dominion, and every title of sovereignty used either in this Age or in the Age to come.
22 God has put all things under His feet, and has appointed Him universal and supreme Head of the Church, which is His Body,
23 the completeness of Him who everywhere fills the universe with Himself.
Colossians 2:15
[God] disarmed the principalities and powers that were ranged against us and made a bold display and public example of them, in triumphing over them in Him and in it [the cross].
Philippians 2:9-11
Therefore [because He stooped so low] God has highly exalted Him and has freely bestowed on Him the name that is above every name,
10 That in (at) the name of Jesus every knee should (must) bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
11 And every tongue [frankly and openly] confess and acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
