Rhapsody of Realities 26 December 2025: The Lord Jesus Affirmed His Deity
SCRIPTURE: (John 10:24-25) Then came the Jews round about him, and said unto him, How long dost thou make us to doubt? If thou be the Christ, tell us plainly. Jesus answered them, I told you, and ye believed not…
There’re those who tell us Christians that even Jesus never said He was the Christ or the Son of God; therefore, why are we claiming what He never said about Himself?
Well, anyone who thinks like that has never really read the Bible. Take for example our theme scripture above; the Jews came to Jesus and said, “How long are you going to keep us doubting; if you’re the Christ, tell us plainly.”
The Lord’s answer was very simple, clear and direct. He said to them, “I already told you but you refused to believe.” Then He added, “The works that I do in my Father’s name, they bear witness.”
In other words, besides me telling you that I am the Christ, the miracles, the works that I do in my Father’s Name are further proof that I am the Christ; they testify to who I am. The Master minced no words in affirming His deity.
He made it clear that He was the Christ. He even emphasized it further in the ensuing verses 27-30, saying, “…My sheep hear my voice…And I give unto them eternal life; …I and my Father are one.”
This is amazing. You have to be God to talk like this. Only God gives eternal life, and Jesus is the true God and eternal life; that’s why He can give it: “And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ.
This is the true God, and eternal life” (1 John 5:20). Hallelujah! Then He also said, “I and my Father are one” (John 10:30).
What a declaration. The Jews, because they understood the gravity of that statement, took up stones to stone Him to death, saying, “How can you, a mere man, dare to make yourself equal with God?”
That’s because they didn’t know who He was. He declared that He was the Christ. He declared that He could give eternal life to men.
He declared that He was the Son of God, which means God in human flesh. He said these things Himself. In John 5:26 He said, “For as the Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself.”
Now you can understand why He gives eternal life to those who believe in Him. He has the authority. He has life as the Father has life.
He’s one and co-equal with God. So, when you preach Jesus, when you talk about Him, when you believe in Him, you’re not dealing with an ordinary man. Titus 2:13 calls Him the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ. He’s Himself God. Hallelujah!
PRAYER
Dear Father, I thank you for the revelation of Jesus Christ as God in human form, the Word made flesh. I believe and declare that He is the Christ, the true God and eternal life. I walk in the boldness and authority of His person, power, name and lordship, proclaiming His reign and divinity to the ends of the earth. Through me, His truth prevails and His glory is revealed, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

FURTHER STUDY:
John 10:30-38
30 I and the Father are One.
31 Again the Jews [a]brought up stones to stone Him.
32 Jesus said to them, My Father has enabled Me to do many good deeds. [I have shown many acts of mercy in your presence.] For which of these do you mean to stone Me?
33 The Jews replied, We are not going to stone You for a good act, but for blasphemy, because You, a mere [b]Man, make Yourself [out to be] God.
34 Jesus answered, Is it not written in your Law, I said, You are gods?
35 So men are called gods [by the Law], men to whom God’s message came—and the Scripture cannot be set aside or cancelled or broken or annulled—
36 [If that is true] do you say of the One Whom the Father consecrated and dedicated and set apart for Himself and sent into the world, You are blaspheming, because I said, I am the Son of God?
37 If I am not doing the works [performing the deeds] of My Father, then do not believe Me [do not adhere to Me and trust Me and rely on Me].
38 But if I do them, even though you do not believe Me or have faith in Me, [at least] believe the works and have faith in what I do, in order that you may know and understand [clearly] that the Father is in Me, and I am in the Father [One with Him]
John 14:9-10
9 Jesus replied, Have I been with all of you for so long a time, and do you not recognize and know Me yet, Philip? Anyone who has seen Me has seen the Father. How can you say then, Show us the Father?
10 Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in Me? What I am telling you I do not say on My own authority and of My own accord; but the Father Who lives continually in Me does the (His) works (His own miracles, deeds of power).
Colossians 2:9
9 For in Him the whole fullness of Deity (the Godhead) continues to dwell in bodily form [giving complete expression of the divine nature].
