Senate President, Ahmed Lawan has reacted to calls by Southern Governors for the Federal government to restructure the nation.
Lawan in a statement on Thursday, advised the Governors to restructure their various states, before urging the Federal government to do so.
He faulted the call while stating that elected leaders of the country should not be clamouring for such a thing.
“…Even if you are a governor, you are supposed to be working hard in your state to ensure that this restructuring you are calling for at the federal level, you have done it in your state as well,” he said.
“I believe that, as leaders, especially those of us who are elected into office should not be at the forefront of calling for this kind of thing (restructuring),” Lawan added.
Lawan also said leaders are supposed to ensure that the systems at the federal, state and even local government levels work for the people.
