The attention of the Rivers State Police Command has been drawn to a publication that is now trending on Social Media accusing some Officers of the Command of demanding the sum of two Hundred Thousand Naira (#200,000.00) in an alleged case of kidnapped children Ordinarily, the command would have dismissed it as an inconsequential story which at best is a figment of the authors’ imagination.
However, given the damaging effect on the reputation of the Nigeria Police Force in general and Rivers State Command in particular, we deem it necessary to set the record straight.
The Officers and Men of the Rivers State Police Command did not in any way demand any amount of money from the pained and anguished parents of the kidnapped kids for the arrest of the perpetrators.
The Command however, wishes to assure the parents of the missing kids and the general public that machinery has been set in motion to rescue the kids.
The general public is hereby implored to avail us with useful information that will lead to the arrest of the culprits.
