Reactions have continued to trail the recent declaration by Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, describing the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, as his political godfather and the leader of Rivers State.
Governor Fubara reportedly made the statement after a meeting with the FCT Minister, members of the Rivers Elders Council, and Wike’s allies over the weekend. The meeting came shortly after both men agreed to end their prolonged political rift following the declaration of a state of emergency in the state.
Responding to the governor’s remarks on Facebook, Justice Eleonu said, “I never supported Fubara for the fact that Wike brought him; I’m not surprised.”
Another commenter, Daniel Nsirim, noted, “He that wears the shoes knows where it hurts. If that will make him retain his office, so be it.”
Stanley Nonso described the situation as “a subdued man,” adding that it was “very interesting the kind of politics being played in Rivers State. A governor said a minister is the leader of the state he’s in charge of. Sacrilege.”
Edosa Odiase simply asked, “What do you expect?” while Ifeanyi Prince reacted with, “Okay o .”
Similarly, Obi Chris commented, “Barber chairs,” while Omono Eghobamien said, “Wetin you want make him say na? Wike don turn am to blokus… blokus no dey talk.”
Lucky Ben Felix added, “It’s good that one doesn’t bite the finger that fed him… good to hear,” and Don Jolly remarked, “Ur eye don clear now, u don dey speak with ur left brain.”
The governor’s declaration has sparked intense debate among residents and political observers, with many interpreting it as a sign of Wike’s continued dominance in Rivers politics despite the earlier fallout between both leaders.
