A 24-year-boy identified as Emeka Iyalla has been given a one year non custodian sentence for attempting to rape an 8-year-old girl by a Chief Magistrate Court.

The incident occurred at Ogbogoro community in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of the state.

The boy will clean the High Court and Magistrate Court premises every Monday for a period of one year after he was convicted by Chief Magistrate Felicitas Amanze.

The court also ordered that the sum of one hundred and fifty thousand naira be paid to the victims family.

Chief Magistrate Amanze held that the court was lenient following the medical report on the victim which showed the little girl hymen is intact but only had vulva bruises.
