Angered by the call, players of Enyimba staged a walkout before fans invaded the pitch, disrupting the highly-anticipated match.
Efforts to continue the encounter proved abortive as the situation went beyond control.
Sunday’s game was a title decider with Rangers topping the league standings with 60 points, and Enyimba trailing them by two points.
