Some Rivers residents have accused officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, of collecting money for registration and issuance of Permanent Voter Cards.
The residents in a chat with NigInfo at the commission’s office yesterday in Port Harcourt, said they were meant to pay as much as N500, N1000 and more.
They called on the commission to device means to ease the registration process, and also extend the deadline for registration.
Meanwhile, a staff of the commission, in a statement denied the allegation.
He said registration and the issuance of PVC are free, adding that no one is expected to pay money.
