Lola Vivour-Adeniyi, Executive Secretary of the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency, has said it would be very difficult to prosecute singer Simi without a survivor coming forward.
The comment comes amid calls by some Nigerians for the singer to be investigated after old tweets resurfaced. In the posts, Simi was seen interacting with children in ways that some have described as sexually inappropriate.
The tweets re-emerged shortly after Simi publicly called for stiffer punishments for rape and sexual assault offences, sparking debate and demands for accountability online.
Vivour-Adeniyi emphasised the importance of survivor participation in any legal proceedings, noting that without it, pursuing a case could be legally complicated
