Prominent cleric Prophet Jeremiah Fufeyin has decried what he described as a growing wave of attacks on Christian leaders and the Christian faith, particularly on social media.
In a viral video circulating online, Fufeyin condemned recent criticisms of senior pastors, specifically referencing a social media activist’s remarks against Pastor David Ibiyeomie of Salvation Ministries. He described the criticisms as alarming and urged church members to actively defend their faith and spiritual leaders online.
“It is shocking to see someone publicly attack Pastor David Ibiyeomie simply for preaching the Bible,” Fufeyin said, calling on Salvation Ministries members to use their phones to counter such criticisms. “If we don’t speak out today, it might be your turn tomorrow.”
The remarks appear to be a direct response to comments made by online commentator VeryDarkMan, who recently criticized Pastor Ibiyeomie after the pastor threatened to arrest bloggers who report on his activities.
Fufeyin, who claimed he has also been a target of similar attacks, lamented that pastors are increasingly unable to perform their duties without facing public backlash. He called for unity among Christians to resist what he called a coordinated effort to undermine the church.
