The Atiku Haske Organisation has expelled Abba Atiku Abubakar following his defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Musa Bakari, initiator and convener of the group, announced the decision in a statement issued on Sunday, saying Abba’s political move was at variance with the organisation’s stance and objectives.
Abba Atiku, son of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate in the 2019 and 2023 elections, defected to the APC on Thursday.
After joining the ruling party, Abba reportedly directed coordinators and members of his political structure to also defect to the APC and mobilise support for President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda.
However, Bakari said Abba had no locus to determine the political direction of the Atiku Haske Organisation, stressing that leadership decisions rest with the recognised organs of the group.
He reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to its founding principles, adding that Abba’s expulsion takes immediate effect.
