It has been observed that some persons or group of persons (not natives) have broken down the newly raised fence of the Ignatius Ajuru University of Education (IAUE) land at the new haven area. These persons have attachments where they now engage in illegal refining activities known as kpo fire.
The University Management by this notice is advising those involved to vacate the area in their own interest or face the full wrath of the law for trespassing.
Recall that the Rivers State Government dismantled illegal refining structures across the State because of the daily health hazards of kpo fire. It creates black soot, dark skies, skin irritations and in extreme cases skin cancer, difficulty in breathing etc.
Having such an illegal bunkering structure and engaging in bunkering activities at IAUE premises is to undermine the efforts of the Rivers State Government in curbing the menace of theft, illegal tapping of pipelines, processing of crude oil, economic sabotage and prevention of exposure to the menace.
Management warns those illegally occupying the premises of IAUE to remove their structures immediately and flee from the land before it is too late. The matter has been reported to the appropriate authorities for action to be taken
