The 2023 governorship election in Rivers State is one that will test the mettle of the political sagacity of politicians. It’s an election that will provide an opportunity for the ruling PDP to prove that it has performed and delivered on every facet of development. It’s an election that the people’s vote is expected to count considering the introduction of BVAS which will eliminate ballot stuffing and thuggery during elections.

The APC Campaign Council in Opobo/Nkoro LGA is further dismayed for the continued hiding of the PDP gubernatorial candidate Sir SIMINALAYI FUBARA.

We are concerned because as a man who intends to consolidate on the Nyesom Wike’s administration, occupy the exalted office of the governor of Rivers State, he should be everywhere telling the people what he wants to consolidate on, the areas he will improve on and the new things he will bring to the state but we can’t find him anywhere campaigning even when the ban on campaign by the electoral umpire has since been lifted.

Alas, Mr. Sim Fubara has remained in his hiding place and incommunicado. Surprisingly, he was missing in the flag off of his campaign in his home, Opobo-Nkoro LGA yesterday 3rd December, 2022.

We ask, what will make the PDP’s candidate who hails from Opobo kingdom not to be in Opobo to flag off his campaign and tell the good people of Opobo-Nkoro LGA what he will bring to the table outside the usual slogan of “He is our brother” Even if he can’t express himself eloquently, he can use the local dialect and apologize to Nkoro people afterwards. But he entirely ignored his home LGA because he feels and believed that the people don’t matter, no value and regards.

This release is pertinent because we have to properly inform the people of Opobo-Nkoro LGA. The people are the very integral part and most important of this forthcoming election if you have regards for them.

We are saddened by this development because just as the candidate ignored to come and tell the people what plans he has for them, so is PDP not telling the people anything safe for “HE IS OUR BROTHER”.

As a council we are worried because PDP in Opobo/Nkoro LGA has not done anything for the people and don’t have anything to campaign with and this is evidently clear because there’s no new project since 2015 till date when they took over power. It’s not enough to say there are projects to campaign with, where are the projects situated? Even the least power supply that the people should have 3 nights every week has eluded them and we ask, what has “He is our brother” who is a close ally of the Governor done for the people? The power generating plant that we are using in the LGA were the ones previous govt of Dr. Peter Odili and Chibuike Amaechi’s administration gave to us. The last time we got a new transformer was the one NDDC donated. Even to replace wooden electric poles that are bad, the LGA authority through its agents and proxies will ask the compounds affected to incure the costs. So we as a party and campaign council seek to know what positive impact this administration has on our people.

We equally frown at this continued style of bringing our aged parents out of their rest, make them run around under the scorching sun and hand them peanut of 1300 as experienced yesterday. We condemn this in its entirety.

We further want to ask, the 14 million naira the LGA council budgeted for electric supply every month, what are they doing with it since there’s no light in the LGA?

The PDP should seize from suffering our people all in the name of showing solidarity for OUR BROTHER. We remember the roles Sir SIMINALAYI FUBARA and PDP played in 2015 when Dr. Dakuku Peterside contested the governorship election in Rivers State. Dr. Peterside who has even contributed hugely in the development of Opobo-Nkoro LGA than any other politician in the LGA was vehemently opposed by Sim Fubara and group. The good people of Opobo-Nkoro should be weary of this their antics and blackmail of “He is our brother” because politics is all about the people and her development.

We will like the PDP and Sim Fubara to tell the good people of Opobo-Nkoro LGA what they have attracted to the LGA in terms of development and infrastructure under Gov Wike. It’s not enough to go about telling Opobo-Nkoro people to support Sim Fubara because “HE IS OUR BROTHER”. We are concerned about who will develop our area and SIMINALAYI FUBARA is not that person because from sleep, we know death. If he can’t use his relationship with the governor to attract new project and development in the LGA, he won’t do anything even if you vote him as the world president.

We are therefore calling on the good people of Opobo-Nkoro LGA to be weary of this people who are not interested in the development of our area. Under their watch, we don’t have any functional health centre/hospital. Even the one the Chibuike Amaechi administration gave to us, they destroyed.

We call on Sim Fubara to come out and campaign. He should come out and tell Rivers people what he intends to do for us.

We therefore call on Opobo-Nkoro people to vote for Pastor Tonye Cole, a man who’s track records in development is well known. Vote APC!!

Signed ;
Sir, Hon. Opuada Strongface,
Spokesman,
Tonye/Barikor Campaign Council, Opobo/Nkoro
