Press Release: Rebuttal – Suspicious Redeployment of Assistant Electoral Officers in Rivers State

The attention of the Management of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Rivers State has been drawn to a viral publication alleging suspicious redeployment/posting of some Electoral officers to the Head office and we wish to clarify the above allegation as follows:

1. The posting/redeployment of Staff of the Commission is the prerogative of the Commission and strictly an administrative procedure which followed due process.
2. No Electoral Officer was withdrawn or redeployed from the field/Local Government Area to the Head office. The affected staff were Assistant Electoral Officers.
3. There was no ethnic dichotomy in the redeployment process.

We therefore wish to re-assure the public of our commitment towards ensuring that all our processes (both internal and external) leading to the 2023 General Elections follow stipulated principles and guidelines.
