At the breakdown of the relationship between the Rivers State House of Assembly(Legislature) and Gov Fubara(the Executive) late last year, providence afforded Gov Fubara and his team quick fixes to return the state to a peaceful coexistence, an environment conducive for development.
1. The Presidential intervention through, the Presidential Proclamation for Peace in Rivers State which stopped the proposed impeachment of Gov Fubara and the validation of the Rt. Hon. Martins Amaewhule led House of Assembly.
2. The Justice James Omotosho’s judgment, recognizing the Rt. Hon. Martins Amaewhule led House of Assembly and the order to present the appropriation bill to it.
3. The intervention of the Leaders/Elders of the state at reconciliation.
4. The Court of Appeal Judgement nullifying all decisions, laws etc purportedly made by any person or group outside the Rivers state House of Assembly under the Speakership of the Rt. Hon Martins Amaewhule and members.
5. The Amaewhule led House of Assembly RESOLUTION requesting Gov Fubara present the appropriation bill after the expiration of the time for it within 7 days.Etc.
Gov Fubara’s vehement refusal to seize any of these opportunities led to the total destruction of the reconciliation and recovery of the relationship with the Legislative and Executive arms of the government of the state. The consequences of these actions for development are far reaching.
The decisions reached at these opportunities specifically required the Governor to take very critical decisions at ensuring peace, particularly, presenting the appropriation bill to the House of Assembly under Rt. Hon. Martins Amaewhule and members for consideration and passage. The refusal of the Governor and his team to table the budget as required raises so many questions unanswered such as, what are the contents of the bill
That MUST NOT be known to these members?
Rather, Gov. Fubara ignored all entreaties to ensuring a seamless inter-governmental arm relationship. Expectedly, the gulf keep widening and the state sinking into an unprecedented underdevelopment by the illegitimate proclamation of a factional House of Assembly for the purposes of undermining the duly elected Assembly, while other states are making quantum leap in their development drive.
The lacuna provided by this intractable disagreement has provided a vista for POLITICAL JOBBERS to feast on the scarce resources of the state in the Governor’s vain pursuit for popularity and legitimacy nationwide. The frittering of our ever needed funds for development into the waiting filthy hands of political jobbers masquerading as defenders of the Governor. These characters, unfortunately are non Rivers state indigenes nor citizens whose main aim is milking the state to line their pockets. These known Political jobbers like
2. 1. UGOCHINYERE IKENGA(from Imo State)a member of the House of Representatives with his infamous G60 group.
2. DAN ANYANWU(from Imo State)National Chairman of an unknown party-Zenith Labour Party.
3. DELE MOMODU(from Edo State)publisher of the OVATION MAGAZINE to mention but a few.
Gov Fubara has given access to these jobbers to feed fat on our commonwealth.
We wish to state for the umpteenth time that Gov Fubara will be held accountable for the management of our treasury, if not today, certainly tomorrow.
Finally, as an opposition party, we wish to ask Gov Fubara to make use of the opportunity provided by the Court of Appeal through its lattest judgement to present the appropriation bill to the Amaewhule led Assembly to put to rest this disagreement and redirect focus to the development of out state. A stitch in time saves nine.
