The Chairman and members of the Rivers State All Progressives Congress(APC) Caretaker Committee, after even a cursory analysis of the expositions of the ‘resigned’ cabinet members are peeved at Gov Fubara’s actions undermining the interest of our dear state.
The Governor’s directive as alleged by his HAG is frightening, wherein, the interests of the state are sabotaged by the gatekeepers. Non representation/defence of the interests of the state in litigations by people sponsored by the Governor and indeed outright or blatant refusal to so do, contradicts the oath of office and oath of allegiance sworn to by Gov. Fubara and members of his government and party-PDP.
Suffice to state that the above allegation from no less a member of the cabinet is a pointer to the internal workings of the government in clear lacklustre or nonchalance in the pursuit of the interests of our dear state. The consequences are far reaching.
Further to the above, the Commissioner for Finance equally alleged that Gov Fubara, his government and PDP have continued to mislead the people of the state with fabricated statistics aimed at hoodwinking the unsuspecting people of the state. Recall that this is a direct revelation to the fact that the claim by Gov Fubara on the overnight increases recorded in the internally generated revenues to the state coffers monthly from 15 billion – 27billion was as a result of ‘unreported’ or ‘underreported’ circumstances.
The position of the cabinet member signposts a dangerous position on the side of the government. The debilitating consequences of reeling out unverified or concocted statistics in development planning can only be imagined as it enhances profound poverty, reduces life expectancy, increases illiteracy rate, increases child mortality rate etc
Proper development planning is anchored on transparency, accountability and good governance. These variables are in turn enabled by sincere and committed leadership predicated on servant leadership principle of selflessness.
As a party, we wish to call the attention of Gov Fubara, his Government and the PDP to urgently respond to these grave allegations of working against the interests of our dear state which is the raison d’etre of Gov Fubara, his government, the PDP and the following:-
1. Issues raised by the now resigned cabinet members about working against the interests of the state-
(a) directives on non representation/defence of the state government by sponsored hirelings which tantamount to conflict of interest
(b) reeling false/ concocted or manipulated statistics which are counterproductive to our quest for development.
Finally, we consider the management of the state Government and its affairs too sophisticated and the need to throw in the towel should Gov Fubara, his government and the PDP find it more challenging to navigate the ship of state ashore.
