It was a joyous atmosphere yesterday 26th November, 2022, as stakeholders and members of National Rescue Movement (NRM) Ogbogoro and ward 16 chapter of Obio/Akpor massively turned up at a funeral ceremony organised by Mr Asorube in honour of the departure of his beloved mother and grandmother.
However, drama played out as some youths suspected to be hoodlums led by one Mr Francis Amadi, a PDP chieftain attacked the venue of the event on the account that the event was a campaign in disguise and they as members of the PDP are duty-bound to enforce the executive order 21 and 22 of the Rivers state governor,Nyesom Wike .
It took the timely intervention of the incoming governor of Rivers state ,High Chief Sobomabo Jackrich and his entourage to the scene of the crisis to dislodge the thugs and restore normalcy.
In his reaction to the attack, the incoming governor ,High Chief Sobomabo Jackrich who referred to Ogbogoro town as his second home ,also sued for peace as he called the attention of relevant stakeholders in the state to the increasing spate of pre- election violence lately in the different parts of the state, orchestrated by the obnoxious policies of the Wike’s regime.
