Press Release: Communique on Bans And Restrictions For The Christmas Season in Bonny

To: All indigines, residents and visitors.

Date: 15th December, 2024

1. Shooting of fireworks (Knock out) or any explosives is highly prohibited

       Except those with

       approval to do so.

2. Purewater-Play from  Court Road through Allison Compound  and Ikuba square to the Palace, especially on the 25th of December, 2024. is highly PROHIBITED 

3. Carrying more than one passenger on a Motor-bike (Okada) is prohibited,  exceptions to aged, dependants, disabled or sick persons. 

4. Indecent Acts of any kind including indecent dressing along Court road through Allison Compound to the sacred Ikuba square  is highly prohibited. Note: Defaulters will be arrested and prosecuted 

        according to the law 

       of indecent acts in 

       Section 231 (2)

       Criminal Code Act in 

       Nigeria 

5. Ferry boats plying in and out of Bonny will sail from 7;00am and must stop at 5:00pm. No boat will be allowed to sail after 5:00pm.Note:

       Defaulters will have 

       their boats siezed 

       and the driver 

       prosecuted for willful 

       disobedience and 

       endangering of    

       human lives. 

6. Petty traders and Bar Owners are not allowed to display their goods/wares on the pedestrian road side especially from Court Road to Ikuba Square. This act will not be tolerated and defaulters will be prosecuted for obstruction of traffic.

7. Motor-bikes (OKADA) are not allowed to operate from 8:00pm to 5:00am. The time allowed for every Motor-bike is from 5:00am to 8:00pm daily. Except those  on essential duties.

We hereby urge all indigenes and visitors to comply with these bans and restrictions to ensure a peaceful and enjoyable Christmas season as always.
