The Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike has slammed the Buhari-led Federal Government, describing its corruption fight as “selective.”
The governor, said this during a meeting with party faithfuls in Minna on Saturday, in reaction to presidential pardon granted to Joshua Dariye, former governor of Plateau State and his Taraba State counterpart, Jolly Nyame, convicted for corruption.
According to him, the move was a disservice to the judiciary, adding that the current administration is deceptive.
He noted that the pardon was done towards the forthcoming presidential election.
Part of his statement reads,
“You have big big people, you jail them after all the court proceedings and waste of money, then you ridicule the judiciary by granting them pardon,” he said.
“I want to tell you that this government is very deceptive and they have deceived us enough.
“How will the international community look at us with these type of things we do. Look at the amount spent in the prosecutions and you wake up one morning and messed it up all because of politics.”
“He obviously wants them to help him during the elections, he wants Dariye to help with Plateau while Nyame will work for Taraba.”
