President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Nkanu Nnamdi, the son of acclaimed author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie and her husband, Dr Ivara Esege.
In a statement released today by the State House, President Tinubu extended his condolences to the family, describing the loss of a child as “devastating.” He said, “As a parent myself who has suffered the loss of a loved one, no grief is as devastating as losing a child. I empathise with the family at this difficult time, and I mourn this sad loss with them.”
The President also lauded Ms Adichie as a literary icon who has “brought joy and light to many homes globally” and prayed that she and her family would find strength in the Almighty during this trying period.
“My prayers are with the family,” President Tinubu concluded.
