The Presidency has formally cautioned Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume over what it termed “reckless” and unsubstantiated comments he made on national television concerning President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
Ndume, who represents Borno South and is a former Senate Chief Whip, alleged that the Tinubu government has been overtaken by a cabal of “kleptocrats” and “kakistocrats,” accusations the Presidency vehemently denied.
In a statement on Tuesday, Bayo Onanuga, the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, described Ndume as acting like a “lone-wolf opposition” within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), accusing him of repeatedly spreading false information.
Onanuga highlighted past instances where Ndume’s claims were allegedly inaccurate, including an unfounded report that General Buratai was ambushed by terrorists.
He further criticized Ndume’s sweeping allegations about government officials, saying they lacked any evidence and questioned the senator’s understanding of the term “kakistocrats.”
The Presidency reiterated that President Tinubu’s administration is staffed by competent professionals committed to reforming Nigeria’s economy and fostering sustainable growth.
