The Presidency has refuted reports circulating on social media claiming that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has removed Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila from his position as Chief of Staff.
The denial was issued on Thursday by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Mr Bayo Onanuga, in response to the widespread circulation of the report.
Onanuga explained that the false claim alleged that the former Speaker of the House of Representatives had been replaced by the President’s Principal Private Secretary, Mr Hakeem Muri-Okunola.
Describing the report as completely false, the presidential spokesman urged Nigerians to ignore it.
“There is absolutely no truth to this story. We advise Nigerians to disregard it entirely,” Onanuga said.
He reaffirmed that Hon. Gbajabiamila remains the Chief of Staff to the President, while Mr Muri-Okunola continues to serve as the Principal Private Secretary.
Onanuga further noted that the report was a deliberate fabrication by purveyors of fake news, intended to sow confusion and create unnecessary tension within the government. He urged media organisations and social media users to always verify information from credible sources before publishing or sharing, particularly on issues of national importance.
