A pregnant woman identified as Mrs Vivian Charles allegedly assaulted by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Elelewon Police Division, in Obio/Akpor LGA, Rivers State, has called on FIDA to intervene in the matter and ensure justice is served.
Vivian, in a statement said she had gone to the station with her husband to find out why her uncle was arrested when she was slapped by the DPO.
She said the incident happened in the presence of her husband, who held her when she wanted to retaliate.
She condemned the action of the DPO adding that it does not befit his position as a senior police officer.
Meanwhile the DPO has denied assaulting the pregnant woman or anybody.
Spokesperson for the Rivers State Police Command, SP Grace Iringe-Koko made this known in a statement and vowed to investigate the matter.
