Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has called on citizens to intensify prayers for his administration as it enters a new phase of governance.
Fubara made the appeal on Sunday during a thanksgiving service at St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Opobo town, Opobo/Nkoro Local Government Area. The event coincided with the church’s 2025 Harvest of Divine Possibilities and Thanksgiving, which the governor attended alongside his wife, Lady Valerie, and other stakeholders.
The governor stressed that leadership required divine guidance in addition to human effort, attributing his resilience in office to prayers and intercession offered on his behalf. “We won’t have survived it without your prayers,” Fubara told the congregation, describing the spiritual support as deposits that yield results in God’s time.
He explained that his presence in Opobo was a personal act of gratitude, noting that the church remained his spiritual home. “When my story ends, it is this church that will lead me to my next set of journey,” he said.
Fubara added that true thanksgiving was best expressed through sincerity and humility rather than physical monuments. He also acknowledged sacrifices of fasting and prayers made on his behalf, saying they had shielded him from shame and strengthened his resolve.
The governor urged Rivers people and Nigerians at large to continue supporting his administration with prayers, assuring that such backing was vital for its success.
