A lecturer and researcher, Sarah Chidiebere Joe, has demanded the dismissal of officials responsible for waste management in Rivers State following the heaps of refuse littering Port Harcourt.
In a statement on Thursday, Joe said, “Whoever is responsible for waste management in Rivers State ought to be fired.”
The growing piles of refuse across the city have sparked widespread concern, with many residents blaming the prevailing state of emergency for stalling effective governance in the state.
In response to the situation, the Rivers State Government has reportedly appointed the former chairman of Ikwerre Local Government Area, Samuel Nwanosike, as the new administrator of the state waste management agency.
