Rivers State Administrator, Vice Admiral (Rtd) Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas, has announced plans to conduct a thorough assessment of the Port Harcourt Technical and Vocational Centre, with a view to reviving the under-utilized facility.
Ibas disclosed this after inspecting several key projects across the state, including the ongoing construction of the Rivers State House of Assembly complex on Moscow Road, and the dormant vocational centre located in Old GRA, both in Port Harcourt Local Government Area. He also toured the Dr. Obi Wali International Conference Centre in Obio/Akpor.
Highlighting the centre’s potential to drive economic development and reduce youth unemployment, Ibas stressed the need to reactivate the facility to deliver on its original mandate of skills development and social impact.
“The centre was established to enhance technical education and should not be left idle,” he said.
On the Rivers State House of Assembly project, the Administrator expressed satisfaction with the pace of work and commended the job opportunities it has created for local youth.
