Residents of Port Harcourt have announced plans to stage a protest against the Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company over persistent power outages and what they describe as poor service delivery.
According to a protest notice circulating online, the demonstration is scheduled to hold on Friday, April 3, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. at the NEPA Office located on Moscow Road in Port Harcourt.
The aggrieved residents say the protest is aimed at drawing attention to the challenges they continue to face, including erratic electricity supply and billing concerns. They outlined key demands such as uninterrupted power supply, fair billing, accountability and transparency from the electricity distribution company, as well as improved infrastructure.
The notice, which carries the slogan “Enough is Enough,” urges residents to come out en masse and “stand for their rights,” reflecting growing frustration among electricity consumers in the city.
The planned protest highlights increasing public dissatisfaction with power supply in Port Harcourt, as residents call on authorities and the distribution company to address longstanding issues affecting daily life and economic activities.
As of the time of this report, there has been no official response from PHED regarding the planned demonstration.
