Mayor of Port Harcourt, Hon. Ezebunwo Ichemati, has announced a ₦100,000 reward for anyone who catches individuals stealing manhole covers.
The decisive action comes in response to the arrest of a thief at the Abali (CFC) flyover by a local security team in Ogbum-nu-Abali.
Addressing the situation, Mayor Ichemati condemned the surge in manhole theft, highlighting the significant financial losses to the government and the serious threat it poses to public safety. He vowed to intensify efforts to curb the menace and ensure the city’s infrastructure is protected.
