The Rivers State Police Command has dismantled a notorious car-snatching syndicate operating across state lines, arresting 12 suspects and recovering 22 stolen vehicles in a coordinated crackdown on organized vehicle theft.
The Command’s spokesperson, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, disclosed in a statement on Wednesday that the operation was executed by the Command’s C4i Strikeforce/Octopus team. The breakthrough followed a report filed in September 2024 by one Mr. Enoch Daniel, who reported the theft of his Toyota Hiace bus at Trailer Park, Onne.
SP Iringe-Koko said the team’s investigative efforts led to the unmasking of the syndicate’s network and the recovery of the stolen vehicles, which were traced across various locations. She assured that efforts are ongoing to apprehend other accomplices still at large and to reunite all recovered vehicles with their rightful owners.
The police have urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities, reaffirming the Command’s commitment to curbing crime and ensuring the safety of lives and property in Rivers State.
