A Police officer identified as Inspector Nelson Abuante, has reportedly killed himself after killing his colleague, one Inspector Monday Gbaramana, during an attempt to arrest a suspect in Rivers State.
The incident occurred at Nyogor-Lueku, Khana Local Government Area of the state on Sunday.
Sources say the two officers attached to Taabaa Division had gone to Nyogor-Lueku to arrest a suspect over allegations made against him by his mother.
Mr Akere resisted arrest, leading to a brawl between him and the two Inspectors who came to arrest him.
In the course of the altercation, Inspector Nelson Abuante mistakenly shot Gbaramana who passed on while being rushed to the hospital.
Meanwhile, the State Police Command has confirmed the incident and says investigation is on to ascertain what transpired.
