Operatives of the Inspector General of Police Intelligence Response Team have arrested a couple running a baby factory. The couple was arrested at a church, Great Mercy Deliverance Ministry in the Rumuolumili area of Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
According to reports the couple, Chidi and Maureen Martins were
arrested after a relative of one of the victims called Patience, who was lured into the church from Akwa Ibom State reported to the IRT that her child was missing.
The owners of the factory allegedly search for teenagers who cannot take care of their pregnancies across Rivers, Imo, Akwa Ibom and other neighboring states. They lure the victims into believing that they want to help them deliver their babies safely.
Report also has it that the girls were been injected with drugs so as to give birth at the eighth month. After giving birth, they allegedly give them drugs that would make them sleep off so as to enable them carryout their sinister plot.
The operatives of the IRT who stormed the church equally arrested another couple ready to take away two babies reportedly bought at the church. Three newborns, their mothers and three pregnant teenagers were said to be found at the .
