The Rivers State Police Command has launched an investigation into the alleged killing of a vigilante member, Precious Nnamdi, by suspected cultists in the Ahoada East Local Government Area.
In a statement, spokesperson Grace Iringe Koko revealed that Commissioner of Police Olugbenga Adepoju instructed the Area Commander and tactical units to ensure the rapid arrest of those responsible for the attack.
According to reports, on January 14, 2025, Nnamdi was ambushed by armed suspects while on patrol along Hospital Road. Witnesses reported that the attackers first fired at him, and when the shots failed to penetrate, they beat him to death with sticks and iron rods before fleeing.
Nnamdi was later pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.
