The Nigeria Police Force has confirmed that an abduction occurred in Kurmin Wali community, Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State, following days of uncertainty and conflicting accounts.
In a statement issued by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, the police said the incident, which triggered fear and anxiety among residents, was initially disputed during a meeting of the Kaduna State Security Council convened by Governor Uba Sani.
Hundeyin explained that subsequent verification by operational units and intelligence sources confirmed that the abduction did take place.
According to the statement, some individuals from the affected local government area had earlier described the report as false, creating confusion and necessitating further verification by security agencies.
The police also clarified earlier comments made by the Commissioner of Police in Kaduna State, Rabiu Muhammad, which were widely interpreted as a denial of the incident.
Hundeyin said the remarks were intended to prevent public panic while investigations were ongoing, adding that follow-up checks later confirmed the abduction.
