The Inspector General of Police Intelligence Response Team (IGP-IRT) led by DCP Abba Kyari has arrested two sea pirates responsible for terrorising the water-ways of Rivers and Bayelsa states.
The two pirates nicknamed General Small Voice and Captain Nwalanta were arrested in their hideouts by the IRT after intelligence reports by the Nigerian Navy.
The alleged pirates in a chat with news correspondents while they were being paraded over the weekend confessed to various kidnapping and armed robbery activities along the water-ways of Rivers and Bayelsa states.
“After my brother’s death, I inherited his guns and I formed a five-man gang. We ventured into kidnapping. We kidnapped nine foreign sailors from their vessel in January 2019 on the sea in Bayelsa State and took them to New Jerusalem Island in the Buguma Local Government Area of Rivers State,” General small voice confessed.
