Police officers of the Azikiwe Police Division have arrested a 32-year-old man for allegedly defiling a 9-year-old girl at the Diobu axis of Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
According to neighbours of the victim, the event which occurred on Tuesday, June 17 2020, shocked family members of the little girl and residents, as the young man is a close friend of the victim’s family.
One of the neighbours of the victim confirmed to Reporters that the little girl accused the suspect of penetrating her, in their shop at night. This was after she was found, bleeding from her private part by her guardian, with splashes of blood all over the shop, forcing her guardian to alert neighbours about the development.
The eyewitness further narrated that the neighbours immediately confronted the alleged paedophile in his shop close to the victim’s home, as he was caught cleaning blood stains all over his body. His fingers and clothes were stained with blood as he struggled to exonerate himself when asked to explain what happened.
Another neighbour of the victim, who pleaded anonymity said the little girl’s ‘pant’ was soaked with thick blood, as they struggled to stop her from bleeding. The devastated little girl confirmed that, she had once been molested by the suspect and that this was not the first time.
The young man who couldn’t explain what happened when confronted, later denied the act but could not explain why he had blood stains all over his body, She further stressed.
The suspect has so far been transferred to Police headquarters, Moscow road, for further investigations.
