The Rivers State Police Command has recorded a major success in its ongoing crackdown on car theft and other organized criminal activities with the arrest of three suspects linked to a stolen vehicle.
According to a statement issued on Sunday, December 7, 2025, by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, operatives of the Electronic Central Motor Registry (ECMR) and the Special Operations and Intelligence Team (SOIT) recovered a stolen Toyota Corolla (Reg. No. PHC 626 TX, Engine No. IZZ997375, Chassis No. 2T1BR32E44C280137) during an operation carried out on November 7, 2025, at about 8:00 a.m.
The recovery followed a complaint by an officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Rivers State Sector Command, who presented the vehicle’s particulars, sales agreement, and proof of ownership. Further verification by Prof. Karibo Bagshaw, the legitimate owner, revealed that the car had been stolen from his daughter in December 2024 by their former Bolt driver.
The arrested suspects, all residents of Port Harcourt, have been identified as: Christian Ihuigwe, John Ebus and Barnabas
The suspects and the recovered vehicle have been transferred to the Special Investigation Department (SID) for forensic analysis on the orders of the Commissioner of Police, CP Olugbenga A. Adepoju.
The Command confirmed that efforts are underway to track down other accomplices who may be connected to the theft.
CP Adepoju reaffirmed the Rivers State Police Command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property, commending the operatives for their professionalism. He urged residents to continue providing credible information to security agencies to help curb crime.
The suspects will be prosecuted upon the conclusion of investigations.
