The Rivers State Police Command has detained individuals suspected of involvement in a series of tricycle thefts across Elelenwo, Igwuruta, Tank, and Woji areas of Port Harcourt.

In a statement released on Tuesday, Police Public Relations Officer, Grace Iringe-Koko, said the arrests followed a complaint filed on March 19, 2026, at about 11:00 p.m. by a 32-year-old tricycle operator, Sadiq Gara.

Gara reported at Octopus Base that he had picked up three passengers in Elelenwo on the morning of March 18, 2026, who later asked him to stop. He alleged that one of them pulled out a gun and forcefully took his tricycle.

The command noted that prompt action by police operatives led to the apprehension of the suspects and the recovery of the stolen tricycle.
