Operatives of the Rivers State Police Command have arrested suspected members of the late 2Baba gang, believed to be connected to the murder of former Ahoada Divisional Police Officer, SP Bako Angbashim.
According to the Command’s spokesperson, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, the suspects—identified as K1 and LoveGod Goodluck—were apprehended during a raid by the Octopus Tactical Unit on the gang’s camp in Ikata community, Ahoada East Local Government Area.
Iringe-Koko disclosed that a locally made single-barrel gun and two live cartridges were recovered from LoveGod Goodluck during the operation. She also confirmed the arrest of another gang member, Olumini Precious, on June 13. He was previously on the run but was later tracked and captured. Police recovered an English-made pump-action gun and a locally fabricated pistol from him.
All suspects have reportedly confessed to being members of the gang responsible for terrorizing communities in Ahoada East. The police say the suspects and recovered weapons are in custody, while investigations are ongoing to apprehend other fleeing gang members.
