The Rivers State Police Command has arrested a 42-year-old man, identified as Iruo Young, in connection with the armed robbery and car snatching incident that occurred along the Alakahia–Rumosi axis of Port Harcourt on Tuesday, October 15, 2025.
Police spokesperson, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, disclosed in a statement that Young was apprehended at his hideout in Ikoku, Port Harcourt, following an intelligence-led operation. She said the suspect has confessed to his involvement in the robbery and is currently assisting investigators with useful information.
Iringe-Koko added that the Command has placed a ₦2 million bounty on credible information leading to the recovery of the stolen vehicle—a 2015 Toyota Avalon—or the arrest of other suspects still at large.
The robbery, which occurred around 8:30 p.m. opposite the Primary School in Alakahia, also involved the theft of three mobile phones, including an iPhone 17 Pro, an iPhone 14 Pro, and a Samsung Galaxy S8.
CCTV footage of the incident, now circulating on social media, captured the moment the armed robbers carried out the attack and escaped with the stolen car.
