The Rivers State Police Command has recorded a major breakthrough in the investigation into the disappearance of Sampson Worianime, who was reported missing on November 11, 2025.
Police Spokesperson, CSP Grace Iringe-Koko in a statement said, Worianime reportedly went missing after accompanying members of his community youth group from Ogbogbo Community in Okrika to measure land at their old settlement.
Following a petition by his mother, the Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit (AKU) launched an intelligence-led investigation into the case.
Police investigations led to the arrest of two suspects identified as Igwe Alex, 26, the Chief Security Officer (CSO) of Aleto-Eleme Community, and John Mikel, 24, both indigenes of Aleto-Eleme.
During preliminary investigations, the suspects allegedly confessed to abducting two youths from Okrika, including the deceased. Police said one of the abducted youths escaped, while Worianime was killed by the suspects, who disposed of his body in a nearby river.
The suspects later led police operatives to the crime scene, where the remains of the deceased were recovered from a shallow grave. The suspects are currently in police custody and are cooperating with investigators, while efforts are ongoing to arrest other accomplices linked to the crime.
The Commissioner of Police, Rivers State Police Command, CP Olugbenga A. Adepoju, psc, mnips, has ordered a thorough investigation to ensure that all those involved are brought to justice.
The Command reassured members of the public of its commitment to protecting lives and property and urged anyone with useful information to assist the police in the ongoing investigation.
