The Rivers State House of Assembly says plans are underway to amend some sections of the state anti-cultism law to allow Magistrate Courts handle cult related matters.
Chairman of the House Committee on Judiciary, Hon. Sokolo Solomon disclosed this when they paid a courtesy visit to the newly appointed Chief Justice of the state, Simeon Amadi.
The Chief Judge, had urged the House to allow Magistrate Courts handle such cases to reduce the workload on High Courts.
He also said such a move would reduce the number of inmates at the Correctional Centres awaiting trail.
