The Federal Government says plans are underway to relocate correctional facilities across the country.
Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, disclosed this when he visited the Ikoyi Prison in Lagos on Monday.
According to him, the government wants correctional centres to be places of education and transformation, but with the present environment, it is difficult to achieve that.
“We want correctional centres to be places of education and transformation. But we believe that in this environment, it is difficult; also, we see it as more of a security threat
“The government is looking into how we can perhaps relocate some of these correctional centres, with Ikoyi being very key,” he said.
