A passenger boat has been hijacked by suspected pirates along the Soku-Abonema waterways in Akuku-Toru Local Government Area of Rivers State.
Sources say the incident occurred on Wednesday as the boat was heading from Abonema to Soku.
They said the pirates carried the passengers into the mangrove, dropped them alongside the driver and sped off with the boat.
Chairman, of Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria, Rivers State chapter, Isreal Pepple, confirmed the incident in a statement.
