A Senator representing Bayelsa West Senatorial District, Seriake Dickson says the Minister of State for Petroleum, Timipre Sylva opposed President Buhari’s 5percent to host communities and insisted on 2.5 percent in the Petroleum Industry Bill.

Seriake, the immediate past Governor of Bayelsa State said this in a statement in Abuja on Friday.

He alleged that Sylva had told Senators that host communities can only get 2.5percent or no Investment.

He noted that most senators who had earlier supported the 5 percent to host communities were dissappointed when they heard and saw the tough position by the executive.

“They told us that it is either we agree to 2.5% or no Investment. The Minister said there won’t be investment inflow if we approve anything higher than 2.5percent,” he said.
